Summary of Predictions

Hey guys!  I just wanted to quickly summarize my predictions for the big Apple event today.

What we’ll likely hear announced
  1. an Apple “tablet”
  2. iPhone OS 4
  3. iLife 2010 (iWork for iPad)
The “tablet” will have
  • 10″ LCD (not OLED) screen (9.6″ LED back-lit LCD)
  • Named the iSlate (iPad)
  • Similar aesthetics to the iPhone but thinner and surprisingly light
  • Arm based processor (Apple designed A4)
  • Two flavors (3G and Vanilla)
  • iPhone OS with “tablet” form factor UI
  • Revolutionary text input (touch keyboard scaled to “tablet” form factor)
  • Built in stand (Additional accessory that acts as a stand, Apple is business shrewd!)
  • 720p HD Video
  • Revolutionary digital print media (books, magazines, etc)
  • Games (duh!)
  • Multi-tasking
  • Backward compatibility with iPhone apps
  • iTunes integration with section for “tablet” apps (another duh!)
  • A dock
  • $800 straight up / $600 on contract with service provider (NO CONTRACTS – $499 Vanilla / $629 Unlocked 3G)
The “tablet” might have
  • Front facing camera
  • Verizon 3G
  • Multiple doc connectors
  • Creative software (Apple demoed app called Brushes)
  • A blue tooth keyboard (Keyboard dock)
The “tablet” won’t have
  • Desktop class OS
  • A stylus
  • Open application development
  • Many buttons
  • Will NOT be named the Canvas
